Soap Lye Lab
Soap Lye Lab is a local-first soap recipe and lye calculator for bar and liquid soap batches.
What the app does
The app turns manual recipe inputs into a lye and water plan:
- bar soap and liquid soap workflows
- oils entered by weight or percentage
- grams, ounces, and pounds
- superfat and lye purity settings
- lye concentration, water:lye ratio, or water as a percent of oils
It can then show lye amount, water target, oil totals, and derived batch values.
What the app does not do
### Does the app guarantee a recipe is safe or compliant?
No. Soap Lye Lab is a manual reference tool only. It does not replace safe handling practices, lab testing, cosmetic labeling review, or local compliance checks.
### Does the app generate recipes for me?
No. Version 1.0 does not use AI and does not generate formulas from a text prompt. You enter the oils, batch size, superfat, purity, and water method yourself.
### Does the app share my recipes or sync them to the cloud?
No. Version 1.0 has no recipe-sharing feature and no cloud sync. Saved recipes remain local to the current device.

Yes. The app can save recipes and notes locally on the current device so you can reuse them later.
### Is any of that data uploaded to a server?
No. Version 1.0 has no account system and no cloud sync.
Units and workflows
### Can I switch between bar soap and liquid soap?
Yes. The app supports both bar soap and liquid soap workflows, including NaOH and KOH calculation paths.
### Can I use different units?
Yes. The app supports grams, ounces, and pounds.
### Can I choose different water methods?
Yes. Version 1.0 supports lye concentration, water:lye ratio, and water as a percent of oils.
